Motorola released Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus for the Indian market. To be honest both the devices are having almost same specs and design until you spot that little square chrome finish button in one of the devices. Yes! Moto G4 Plus is the first device from Motorola to have a fingerprint scanner. On a note, if you really want to do a Moto G4 vs Moto G4 Plus then the differences are the RAM, internal memory and the camera MP. The processor, display, front camera, OS and battery are same on both the devices.  This is one of the most anticipated release and did it really worth the hype? Yes – but not 100%. Well, to keep the post less lengthy I am going to concentrate on the G4 Plus from now onwards.

Moto G4 Plus Specs

The display, the G4 Plus features a 5.5 inch full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The PPI would be quite less since it is slightly a large display. If you are looking for a better finish, metal unibody, then this is not the device for you. But, fun apart, the quality of the plastic especially the back texture seems top notch. The perfectly placed camera and the Moto logo adds points to the esthetics.

The system architecture being the  Motorola Mobile Computing System, including an up to 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor with 550 MHz Adreno 405 GPU. Well this is where the things get bit tricky. The 600 series snapdragon processor is quite old and less capable to do things when compared to the 800 series. If you take the 2K, 4K video recording capability, the compatibility issue of having a better GPU. Therefore, the phone supports only 1080 (Full HD) video recording. With Moto G4 Plus you have two options to go for;

1. The 2GB RAM with 16GB Internal Memory and
2. The 3GB RAM with 32GB Internal memory. Both the models will support external card upto 128GB.

The device is not water proof but, water repellent with the addition of nano-coating. It supports 4G LTE and with an option for dual SIM. When Motorola claims its a all day battery, 3000 mAh, you can ‘hardly’ pass a day on heavy usage. The build-in TurboPower super charges the device to have capacity of 6 hours of power in 15 minutes. Camera, the device features a 16 MP primary camera with laser focus and phase detect auto-focus. The wide angle lens 5 MP front camera let’s you capture great selfies even with a bigger crowd.

When motorola goes all ‘WOW’ with full page newspaper ads and more I think the phone lacks something. The 600 series snapdragon is a big set back. For this price tag you can get something like Lenovo ZUK Z1 specs  which also has similar specs but with  a huge 4100 mAh battery, 800 series snapdragon processor and 64GB internal memory. And finally, Moto G4 Plus price in India is around Rs 13,499 for 2GB/16GB version and 14,999 for the 3GB/32GB version.
