Sony unveiled Sony Xperia XA Ultra, stunning android smartphone with a near bezel-free display. The display unit is really a head turner, with the curved glass edges which fuse seamlessly with the metal body of the device. The company describes the device as “stylish selfie-cam masterpiece”, careful with the grammar there. Sony managed to put a 6″inch display inside a 5.5″ inch chassis with their remarkable feat of engineering making it feel less like a phablet. This reminds me of the beautiful Dell XPS which also houses similar kind of technology for display unit.

Xperia XA Ultra White

Another exciting thing about the Xperia XA Ultra is the colors. The phone is available in White, Graphite Black and Lime Gold. Personally I liked ‘lime gold’ and ‘white’ look peppy and real head turner it is. The phone mainly focuses on taking selfie as it is occupied with 16 MP front facing camera with flash.

Sony Xperia XA Ultra Specs

  • 6″inch ‘borderless’ a near bezel-free curved glass Full HD display.
  • 16 MP front facing camera with flash
  • 21.5 MP primary camera.
  • MediaTek MT6755 octa core processor 2.0 Ghz processor
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 2700 mAh battery
  • 16GB Internal memory and expandable upto 200GB.
  • Dual SIM card support.

While Sony got it right with both primary and secondary camera I must say it is the display resolution and battery which is quite disappointing. A 6’inch display with 1080p display will lack the sharpness and probably gives you exact opposite of what you have hoped for. The MediaTek processor and the Mali-T860MP2 GPU eventhough has good clock speed and cores they do lacks the capability for recording 4K videos.

Lime Gold, White, Graphite Black – Xperia XA Ultra

The 16GB internal memory is quite rudimentary but, on the safe side you get an external memory card slot which supports upto 200GB. About the battery, the 2700 mAh battery is scanty and it should have been atleast 3000 mAh. Nevertheless you get to hold one of the beautiful piece of craftsmanship and take amazing pictures, selfie camera with flash, then view it in the bezel less display. There is a dedicated physical camera button on the right side of the device.

Sony Xperia XA Ultra Release Date

The phone is supposed to be out in market by July 2016. However, the exact release date of Xperia XA Ultra is not out yet. We can expect a release in India, other Asian market and in Europe. And about North America, US release is not yet sure but the phone will be releasing in Canada sometime in August first week.
